IGSU received the first donations intended to strengthen flood response capacities within the WASSER project, implemented by GIZ
On December 8, 2025, the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations received the first batch of donations offered within the project "WASSER - Support in mitigating the impact of the war for water supply and sanitation in the border region of Moldova with Ukraine". The official handover-reception ceremony of the equipment took place in the premises of the Soroca Emergency Situations Directorate
during the event, IGSU received from the program partners a specialized vehicle for interventions in hard-to-reach areas, as well as two medium capacity motor pumps, intended for pumping dirty water in case of floods. The total value of the donation is estimated at around 712 thousand lei.
This batch of equipment will contribute to improving the operational capabilities of IGSU rescuers and firefighters in the liquidation of emergency situations with hydrological risk.
The project is financed by the German Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs and implemented by the German International Cooperation Agency (GIZ), in partnership with the State Chancellery of the Republic of Moldova. Through this contribution, the German partners support the modernization of intervention services and increase the resilience of vulnerable communities.
The "WASSER" project represents an important step in strengthening cross-border cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine in the area of the Dniester river basin, facilitating the development of joint mechanisms for preparation, intervention and coordination in exceptional situations
The beneficiaries of the project are Ocnita, Dondușeni and Soroca districts, as well as Mohyliv-Podilskyi, Yampil and Sokireany localities in Ukraine – regions prone to the risk of floods.
We remind you that the event was held in the context of the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between IGSU and GIZ, on December 02, 2025. The signed document demonstrates the joint initiative aimed at strengthening emergency response systems and improving water supply and sanitation infrastructure in the cross-border region.
