IGSU participated in the international exercise "Border Shield 25" to strengthen the response to CBRN risks (gallery)
between September 29 - October 3, 2025, the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations participated in the International Civil Protection Exercise "Border Shield 25", held on the territory of the Ungheni International Station and at the Ungheni Border Crossing Point (railway).
The exercise was organized by the General Inspectorate of Border Police, within the PI06 project, in cooperation with the Centers of Excellence of the European Union for counteracting chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear risks (I CBRN COE).
The event was present the state secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Mrs. Diana Salcuțan, who emphasized the importance of such exercises in strengthening the institutional collaboration in managing crisis situations and increasing the reaction capacity of national structures.
Also, the head of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, Colonel Aurel Baciu, also participated in the event, which highlighted that our common objective is to increase resilience, strengthen national and international CBRN risk management, as well as developing inter -institutional and international cooperation. At the same time, the official stressed that the active participation of the IGSU team in this exercise attests to the institution's commitment to national and regional security, but also the opening of the Inspectorate for Training, Expertise and Practices.
The applications brought together teams and experts from 11 participating countries: Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Republic of Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Romania, Serbia and Ukraine.
The main purpose was to train and strengthen the national and international response capacities in the case of incidents with CBRN risk (chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear), as well as the strengthening of cross -border cooperation between the responsible institutions.
during the exercise, complex tactical scenarios were simulated, aiming at: early detection and quick response to chemical and biological dangers, efficient coordination of intervention between national and international institutions, but also testing the operational capacities of specialized teams.
The IGSU CBRN team acted in cooperation with the Border Police, the Customs Service, the National Agency for Public Health and the State Enterprise "Railway". The interventions were performed with the strict observance of the safety protocols, the teams being equipped with special protective costumes, specific to the CBRN interventions.
IGSU participation in the "Border Shield 25" exercise reflects the institution's commitment to increase the level of operational training and strengthen international cooperation in the field of civil protection. Such initiatives directly contribute to the consolidation of national security, population protection and the development of efficient reaction mechanisms in the face of CBRN threats.
