IGSU hosted a US delegation in the presence of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the North Carolina National Guard
The General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations hosted an official delegation from the United States of America, led by Brigadier General Charles Morrison , the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the North Carolina National Guard.
meeting took place on December 11, 2025, being carried out within the sustainable partnership between the Republic of Moldova and United States of America, being a collaboration of major importance for both parties.
during the meeting, the IGSU management and the members of the delegation discussed the current and future directions of cooperation, emphasizing the exchange of experience, joint training programs, as well as the organization of bilateral exercises aimed at increasing the level of interoperability and the ability to respond in case of exceptional situations.
The parties also expressed the desire to initiate a brotherhood partnership between a fire department from North Carolina and a fire department from the Republic of Moldova, in order to exchange expertise to facilitate mutual intervention in case of natural and man-made disasters.
the head of IGSU, Colonel Aurel Baciu, emphasized the importance of continuing and intensifying partnership relations, noting that this collaboration will contribute to the development of institutional capacities. He expressed appreciation for the submitted proposals and reiterated the institution's openness to strengthening and expanding cooperation. At the same time, the official thanked the American state for the support provided in the construction and renovation of the 18 firemen's and rescuers' sheds of the IGSU.
For his part, Brigadier General Charles Morrison noted that the relationship between the North Carolina National Guard and IGSU will remain a sustainable one, based on training, joint training and exchange of expertise, in order to strengthen operational and emergency response capabilities.
Also, General Morrison mentioned that, among the 116 partnerships developed by the USA, the Republic of Moldova stands out as the best partner, a fact that confirms the quality of the collaboration between the two countries.
The American delegation also paid a visit to the IGSU Central Dispatch, where it was familiarized with how the institution's forces and means are managed in case of emergency situations, as well as with the rooms intended for convening the crisis cell responsible for coordinating major exceptional situations at the national level.
We mention that 2026 will mark 30 years of sustainable partnership between the United States of America and the Republic of Moldova, a consolidated collaboration in various strategic fields, including emergency management.
