IGSU ensures anti -ceasing security in polling stations during parliamentary elections

during the electoral period of the parliamentary elections in the Republic of Moldova, the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations undertakes specific measures to ensure anti -demanding security in all polling stations in the country.

in this context, rescuers and firefighters carry out fire risk prevention activities in the locations where the polling stations, offices and electoral committees are located.

At the same time, the persons responsible in the polling stations are trained regarding the prevention of exceptional situations, the behavior in case of a fire, as well as the alert and evacuation procedures in emergency situations.

Recommendations on fire defense measures in polling stations:

• Ensure the presence and functionality of the means of first intervention in case of fire in all polling stations.

• Check that the extinguishers are located in visible and accessible places.

• Keep free and well signaled all the escape paths.

• Do not block the doors, corridors or outputs with furniture, electoral materials or other objects.

• Ensure safety lighting and proper signaling.

• Check the operation of the fire detection and alarm systems.

• Avoid overloading the sockets and electrical cables.

• Do not use improvised or damaged electrical equipment.

• It is forbidden to install sockets and switches inside the voting booths or on their walls.

• It is forbidden to carry out open fire work inside the polling stations.

• Avoid placing the voting booths, ballot boxes and other furniture less than 1.5 meters from heating sources.

Actions required to be undertaken in case of fire:

• Call immediately the unique emergency service 112.

• undertake all possible measures to evacuate people without exposing your danger.

• If possible and sure, intervene to extinguish the fire with the means of first intervention.

• Disconnect the electricity in the section, if applicable and if this can be done safely.

• Wait for the arrival of intervention crews and provide accurate information.

We mention, that on the day of the election, the intervention crews of the IGSU will be in full preparation, ready to intervene promptly in case of emergency situations.

The General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations urges all the persons involved in the electoral process to manifest alertness, responsibility and to respect the norms of anti -demanding security, in order to ensure the safe conduct of the parliamentary elections.
