The IGSU delegation undertakes a study visit to the city of Riga, Latvia in the context of the implementation of the MD – ALERT – STUDY Project
During the period 8-12 July 2024, the IGSU delegation from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Moldova undertakes a study visit to the city of Riga, Republic of Latvia, in the context of the implementation of the MD – ALERT – STUDY Project, funded by the European Union under the Technical Assistance for Disaster Risk Management Programme (UCP-2023-TRACK1-IBA).
At the beginning of the visit, the IGSU representatives and the institution's leadership, represented by the Deputy Head, Lieutenant Colonel of the Internal Service Alexandr Tatarov, had a meeting with the Head of the State Fire and Rescue Service of the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Latvia, Mr. Mārtiņš Baltmanis. Both parties discussed the experience in the implementation process of the public warning system in case of emergency situations and the modern technologies used in this field by Latvia and the European Union countries.
During the event, experts from Latvia and the Republic of Moldova are brought together with the aim of identifying the most efficient technologies and solutions in the field of civil protection, in order to reduce loss of life, damage to property and the environment. At the same time, the exchange of experience between countries regarding disaster risk management is being carried out. Here, specialists are also examining the architecture of the early warning system that is to become operational in Latvia starting from 2025, which presupposes a high degree of performance and reliability.
The visit of the IGSU representatives from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Moldova to the city of Riga is carried out with the purpose of studying the best practices, solutions and technologies in the field, as Latvia is in the process of implementing a high-performance public warning system.
This activity will help in the process of developing the feasibility study for the future Public Warning System in case of emergency situations that is to be implemented in the Republic of Moldova. The feasibility study will formulate the most eligible and sustainable technological solutions applicable to our country. The deadline for the completion of the study is February 2025.
