Firefighters from Chisinau and Cahul were closer to citizens during the "Open Doors Day"
The IGSU firefighters opened the doors of the units wide for all those willing to discover the world of rescuers, marking the "Open Doors Day".
The events took place on November 20, 2025 in the Ciocana Rescue and Firefighters Detachment in Chisinau, but also in the Cahul Emergency Situations Directorate.
These actions were a special opportunity for the citizens to interact directly with the firefighters, to find out what their work looks like beyond the sirens and uniforms, but also to understand how much preparation and dedication is behind each mission.
From the early hours of the morning, the firemen's yard was filled with curious steps, wide eyes and surprised smiles of dozens of children and teenagers.
During the day, the firefighters interacted with all the visitors, organizing interactive workshops and training sessions, through which they transmitted important safety recommendations for the prevention of fires and other risk situations.
The participants were explained in detail what is the correct behavior in case of fire, earthquake or other exceptional situations, emphasizing that prevention and everyone's responsibility are essential elements in minimizing emergency situations.
At the same time, the rescuers presented the entire spectrum of missions they perform daily to protect the lives and property of citizens.
The visitors had the opportunity to explore the fire units, tour the training and rest areas, admire the technique and equipment used in interventions.
The children became, for a few moments, little lifeguards, pumped water from hoses, wore the heavy helmet and uniform of the firemen and learned techniques for using the fire extinguisher. In addition, the participants discovered an exhibition of thematic drawings made by students of school institutions, full of creativity and inspiration.
Also, the SMURD teams demonstrated methods of providing first aid, providing practical knowledge that can save lives, and the children had the opportunity to practice resuscitation maneuvers on mannequins.
The purpose of organizing the "Open Doors Day" event was to familiarize citizens with the activity of firefighters and rescuers, to highlight the professionalism, responsibility and passion underlying each intervention and to promote safety rules among the population.
Similar activities will be organized in other districts of the country, the next ones being scheduled in Edineț on November 27 and in Ungheni on November 28, 2025.
