Firefighters and rescuers in the north of the country opened wide the doors of the units to citizens, marking the "Day of Open Doors" - an action aimed at bringing the community closer to the daily work of those who save lives.

The events took place on November 12, 2025 within the Bălți Emergency Situations Directorate, Regional Search and Rescue Directorate no. 2 Balti, the Soroca Emergency Situations Directorate, as well as within the Drochia and Florești Emergency Situations Section of the IGSU.

The Open Doors Day brought together children, young people and adults who had the opportunity to discover from the inside the work of heroes in uniform, those who intervene daily in the most difficult situations to save lives and property.

The purpose of the activities was to familiarize citizens with the work of firefighters and rescuers, to show how much training, responsibility and passion lies behind each intervention, but also to promote safety rules among the population.

During the day, visitors received useful recommendations on the correct behavior in case of fire, earthquake and other exceptional situations. At the same time, children and adults watched spectacular fire-fighting demonstrations, extrication exercises following road accidents, as well as first aid simulations.

Also, the rescuers presented the whole range of missions they perform every day for the safety of people. Citizens learned how firefighters act during fires, how people in various risk situations are saved, what is the specific nature of divers' missions, but also the activities of chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear specialists.

A special interest was aroused by the cynologists, who presented the specifics of search-rescue missions with the help of service dogs.

The SMURD teams also showed how to provide first aid in case of accidents and how every second counts to save a life, and the children had the opportunity to practice resuscitation maneuvers on mannequins.

Moreover, the participants had the opportunity to climb into the special vehicles, try on the firemen's uniform and explore the spaces in the units where the firemen conduct training and spend their rest time.

At the same time, the visitors became familiar with the activity of the dispatchers from the Balti Integrated Dispatch, which manages 24/24 rescue missions intended for citizens.

more than 350 children and adults participated in the activities, who lived an unforgettable experience. For many, this was their first direct encounter with the heroes who intervene first in the face of danger.

Similar activities will be organized in other districts of the country, the next ones being scheduled in Cahul and Chisinau on November 20, in Edineț on November 27 and in Ungheni on November 28, 2025.
