The funds of the European Union help the Republic of Moldova in better managing disasters accessing the funds of the European Union by rescuers and firefighters helps the Republic of Moldova in managing disasters. The implementation of projects through the programs of the European Union offers opportunities for our country to be much more prepared in the fight with disasters. In this sense, the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations applied to the Interreg Next Romania -Republic of Moldova 2021 -2027 program and obtained funding for 6 projects. The grants offered by the EU worth about 2.7 mln. The euro will be invested to increase the reaction capacity of the Republic of Moldova to emergency situations. The funds are to be redirected mainly to the purchases of special vehicles, field vehicles, intervention equipment, mannequins for training, meant to increase the efficiency and operability of the missions. Thus, the intervention subdivision in Causeni is to be equipped with 2 field vehicles, the subdivision in Comrat with 5 small special vehicles, and a truck equipped with high capacity is expected for the subdivision of interventions in Balti. Accessing EU funds is jointly done with fire subdivisions in Romania. At the same time, the projects include prevention campaigns, common training and exercises, which will ensure a better training of the communities, but also of the intervention teams. This cooperation consolidates the cooperation between the structures of rescuers and firefighters on both banks of the Prut in the field of preparation and reaction to disasters, and the joint access of EU funds increases the level of safety for citizens of the Republic of Moldova and Romania, as well as for the EU. It is for the first time that the projects were submitted by the territorial subdivisions of the IGSU, so the institution opted to decentralize the process of accessing EU to strengthen the institutional development capacities. The period of implementation of the projects concerns the period 2025 -2027. These investments are not only purchases of modern equipment, but also a guarantee in the security of the country and communities. Through programs, rescuers and firefighters in our country will approach even more to European standards, including by reducing the response time in missions. In this way the Republic of Moldova takes concrete steps towards integration into the European Union.
