Moldovan rescuers participate in the international exercise "EU Modex Lot2 Latvia 2025"
in the context of the European course of the Republic of Moldova and its firm commitment for accession to the European Union, IGSU rescuers and firefighters participate in an international land exercise according to the European Union standards.
Such exercises contribute directly to the institutional integration, the increase of interoperability and the development of a common European culture of safety, solidarity and rapid reaction to emergencies, at international level.
between September 6-13, 2025, the CBRN module (specialized team of response to chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear emergencies) of IGSU also participates in the International Exercise Modex Lot2 Latvia 2025, held in Riga, Latvia.
Participation contributes significantly to the consolidation of operational capacities and aligning the EU civil protection mechanism.
The CBRN module from the Republic of Moldova, consisting of 29 rescuers and 7 specialized technique units, is mobilized to respond to complex scenarios that involve chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear incidents.
The exercise involves simulating and reacting to such incidents, being designed to strengthen and test the response capacities of the CBRN teams.
The IGSU team is involved in simulated missions such as: managing vomiting of dangerous substances, research and isolation of contaminated areas, applying staff protection procedures, technical decontamination of equipment and victims.
These procedures are constantly practiced, in order to improve the capacity for intervention and effective integration into the European Civil Protection System.
The main purpose of the exercise is to strengthen the capacities of cooperation and intervention of the international teams, according to European standards. The actions carried out contribute to the development of a solid, coordinated and efficient European system, based on mutual trust.
EU Modex (EU Civil Protection Module exercises) is a major initiative of the European Union, meant to improve interoperability and reaction capacity of international teams in emergency situations.
The exercise is organized by an international consortium led by the Austrian Red Cross, in partnership with organizations in France, Germany, Latvia and other Member States, with the support of the European Union and CN Appel-Ro (National Center for Disaster Management).
The participation of the Republic of Moldova in this exercise represents a concrete step in the process of integration in the EU and reflects the commitment of our country towards European values on life saving, environmental protection and international solidarity.
IGSU reaffirms its commitment to continuous training, international cooperation and the development of intervention capacities, actively contributing to a common European safety and resilience space.
